dog boarding

BED & BREAKFAST... AND DINNER & A MOVIE, TOO!

I specialize in boarding small to medium-sized cat friendly dogs under 35 pounds, or senior dogs (no puppies or big dogs) in my home in Pinole, located in a safe and quiet neighborhood in Pinole Valley, on a large 34,000 square foot lot.  I am selective about the guest dogs I take, because I aim for a harmonious household where everybody gets along, and where my guest dogs receive the individual attention they deserve.  Guests become part of the family and as such enjoy a cozy home life while their own people are away, with naps, play time, outings, practicing good manners using positive reinforcement, cuddles, and even watching TV and eating organic popcorn together! Your dog must be well acclimating to other dogs, people, noises, sights and new experiences, in addition to being housebroken, crate-trained, and flea free. And as much as I love to listen to dogs, excessive barkers are not a good fit, because I'd like to keep my wonderful neighbors happy.

Here are some of the benefits of boarding your dog with me:

*My home is a single story house without stairs, perfect for older dogs, clumsy  puppies, or those with mobility issues. It is also very well insulated and stays nice and comfortable during hot summer days. The floors are a combination of natural non-toxic Portuguese cork made from renewable sources, and textured non-slip ceramic tile with waterproof grout. I have natural fiber area rugs that help trap some of the dirt those little paws bring into the house. In addition I use only non-toxic, environmentally friendly cleaning products not tested on animals.

*There is no carpet in my house, eliminating any chance for allergens like dust mites, pet dander and mold spores that can be dangerous to a dog's health suffering from allergies.

*Dogs have all day access to the fully fenced backyard. There is also an orchard above the backyard, with about 30+ organically grown fruit trees. We often spend time there and pretend that we are out in the Country!

*I give my pets fresh filtered drinking water, never tap water.  And in case a dog runs out of its own meals, I will feed OPEN FARM RAWMIX with Ancient Grains kibble.

*I crate each dog in its own comfortable wire crate for nap times and meal times, so that they get the rest they need, and don't feel that they have to compete for their food or space. The dog beds are eco-friendly, made from either organic cotton or recycled, reclaimed, and repurposed materials.

*I board only 4 dogs maximum per day. On rare occasions, such as high peak holiday times when people need me the most, I may accept additional and carefully selected dogs into my home.

*I drive a spacious, comfortable and safe 2003 Toyota Sienna van.

*I require proof of current rabies vaccination and current Bortedella (Kennel Cough) vaccination for all boarding guests. For elderly dogs, or dogs that for health reasons can not be revaccinated, I will accept vaccine titer testing in lieu of current proof of vaccinations.

* Should your dog have medical needs, I am experienced in administering prescription medications, subcutaneous fluids and injections.

Although I moved out of this business’ service area prior to its inception and therefore haven’t been a customer, I can wholeheartedly recommend it, as I have known [Maribel] for years and know in my heart of hearts that she is a person with whom my pets would be completely safe and in whom I would have complete trust to care for them and my home. Our dogs went through chemo together and sharing support with her during that challenging time was a blessing. She is punctual, diligent, thorough, ethical, and intelligent. [She is an] ideal pet parent to her own assortment of critters and understands completely that they truly are members of the family.

If you wonder if you could ever find a pet caretaker who cares as much about your pets as you do, look no further, for you have found such people.
